DVSA make available list of vehicles that have a manufacturer’s recall. Recalls are not for minor items. They relate to items that have either contributed to or are considered likely to contribute to a road accident or have an effect on the public’s health.
Defects relate to all manner of items. Air bags that deploy without a crash. Sudden loss of drive at junctions. Loss of braking. Failure of steering. Heater matrix failure scalding legs. Fuel system failures leading to fire. Counterfeit, substandard parts. Vehicles incorrectly assembled from new. This is not an exhaustive list, but all the above have featured in the past.
